Shop ¿Como No?
We just released the 2011 & 2012 vintages together as inventory is limited on these inaugural bottlings.
Both are drinking beautifully right now! Available by the case only.
This is part of the same wine that we produced at Quixote Winery for the 2011 Helmet of Mambrino Petite Syrah, a wine that rated 94 points by the Wine Spectator. The difference is that ¿Como No? is aged an additional 12 months in barrels, adding more layers of depth and complexity.
Cases produced: 198
Tasting Notes: Black-ruby. Almost confectionary nose combines Black Forest Cake, cherry, cocoa and pink peppercorn, plus a whiff of shiitake mushroom. At once dense and sharply delineated, with firm but harmonious acidity leavening the natural power of the variety. Still quite tight on the back end, finishing with a powerful flavor of blackcurrant. This will not be aged for another several months. Offers outstanding potential. Steve Tanzer, International Wine Cellar
Available by the case only. Choose between 12 750ml bottles or 6 1.5L bottles below. Price shown of $760 is for one case and includes shipping for western states.
In issue #221 of the Wine Advocate, Robert Parker, Jr. has rated this wine 94+, with lots of nice things to say about it. “...gorgeous richness, texture and a full-bodied mouthfeel. …This is a 40-50 year wine… [This is] a new Petite Syrah project of Carl Doumani, who was one of the pioneers of high-quality Petite Syrah from his vineyard in Stags Leap… and they are about as terrific as Petite Syrah can be.”
Tasting Notes: A dark, fragrant and expressive red, showing accents of fresh forest floor and loam to the flavors of wild blueberry and blackberry, along with licorice, rosemary and espresso details. Thick, velvety tannins and a spicy finish give this wine extra charm.
